China-based Solar Inverter manufacturer, Sungrow shipped 47.1 GW of products in 2021 to become the global leader. Not only that, but they also expanded their production facilities across Asia in 2021. Sungrow has a 10 GW manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, that was recently expanded, besides another 10 GW plant in Thailand.

The top 10 global leader of PV inverter manufacturer according to anticipated shipments in 2021 were revealed yesterday by the research company, IHS Markit. Sungrow is followed by erstwhile leader Huawei, and Ginlong Solis. The top 10 is dominated with Chinese firms, with only 4 non-chinese firms, namely Germany based SMA(no. 5) , Spanish firm Power Electronics (no. 7) Israel based SolarEdge (no. 9)  and Japanese firm TMEIC( no. 10)  making the list . At no. 11, is Italy based Fimer.

Sungrow launched the SG350HX string inverter, 1+X modular inverter, Liquid-Cooled Energy Storage System, and its newest inverter series for the commercial, industrial, and residential markets despite the supply chain instability of Covid-19 and 2021.

A supply agreement for a 320 MW solar project in Denmark has already been inked by Sungrow, who just made its inverter portfolio available to the Nordic nations.

In the meanwhile, it joined The Climate Group’s global RE100 and EP100 initiatives, which Sungrow claimed strengthened its “commitment to use 100 percent renewable energy across the whole value chain and improve energy productivity by 35 percent by 2028.”

Sungrow has already got contracts to supply its most recent SG350HX string inverter for a 45.75 MW PV project in Saudi Arabia. Along with this, they are ready to launch its new “1+X” central modular inverter, which can be connected to energy storage systems. This year alone has seen Sungrow sign a 2 GW distribution agreement with Australian distributor Solar Juice.

Sungrow was founded in 1997 by University Professor Renxian Cao, has focused heavily in  research and development in solar inverters, with numerous patents and a broad product portfolio offering PV inverter systems as well as energy storage systems for utility-scale, commercial, and residential applications.  The firm has a presence across over 50 countries, with a top 3 rank in key markets.
